The Necropolitics of Scholasticide in
Gaza : Education, Knowledge and the Struggle over the Future

Oct. 28, 16:15-18:00, Amphimax 412, UNIL

Talk by Dr. Wesam Amer, Digital Humanities Research Center, University of
Cambridge, as part of Prof. Véronique
Mottier’s master’s-level course “Advanced Social Theories.”

Achille Mbembé has argued that ‘necropolitics’, the capacity to inflict death and destruction at a previously unimaginable scale, is at the heart of modernity. This talk examines the systematic destruction of the education system in Gaza as an example of necropolitics, which targets not just the present but also the future.
